Regulatory Update – Moderated by Ric Peri, AEA V.P. Government & Industry Affairs.

Opening address by Craig Martin - CASA Regional Manager Eastern Region

Vital discussions will include the CASA proposal to develop a tailored set of maintenance regulations for general aviation. CASA is currently working to develop a new set of maintenance regulations tailored specifically for general aviation that will be based on the example of best practices in other leading aviation nations.  The new regulations seek to meet an overarching objective of streamlining maintenance requirements, minimizing the level of regulatory burden and reducing costs while still maintaining the high aviation safety standards expected by all Australians.

Plus, the regulators are prepared to discuss items important to our avionics shops:

  • Use of AML STC
  • Electrical load analysis
  • Flight manual supplements
  • Accountability for advice given verbally
  • Lack of enforcement of regulations.

From Fact to Fiction
“From Fact to Fiction” will address the seven generations of new avionics products that have emerged in the past four years as a result of the FAA’s activities on the Part 23 rewrite. Some of these products are not exportable; most of them are. Understanding the facts surrounding NORSEE, PMA and the Part 23 rewrite is critical in order to properly answer questions from your customers
