AEA Convenes Canada Meeting in Calgary

The annual AEA Canada Meeting attracted near-record attendance in Calgary, Alberta, from Sept. 1-3. The three-day event included more than 12 hours of technical training designed for Canadian aviation maintenance organization technicians, as well as an optional training class on weather radar, which was presented by Kelley Van Haitsma of TexasGYRO.

One of the most popular sessions centered on the implementation of safety management systems for the AMO community. Moderated by John Carr, the AEA’s Canada regulatory consultant, the session outlined the steps necessary for a Transport Canada Civil Aviation-approved SMS program.

Technical workshops included presentations from Aspen Avionics, Avidyne, Garmin, L-3 Avionics Systems, and Universal Avionics Systems Corp. Attendees also took advantage of the opportunity to visit the exhibit hall and meet with equipment manufacturers and aviation distributors.

The AEA Canada Meeting kicks off the association’s traditional fall regional meeting schedule. Additional AEA Regional Meetings will be offered in Coolum, Australia, from Sept. 13-14; Kansas City, Mo., from Sept. 29-Oct. 1; Reno, Nev., from Oct. 27-29; and Tampa, Fla., from Nov. 17-19.
