Competing in an International Maintenance Marketplace - Canada
John Carr, AEA Canada Consultant
The growth of international maintenance agreements have allowed aircraft of all sizes and shapes to cross borders while shopping for maintenance organizations to install and service avionics and avionics systems. The one caveat in all cases is, the maintenance organization performing the work must perform the work to the standards of the aircraft’s state of registry. For Canadian aircraft, a U.S. repair station is allowed to perform maintenance, repair and alterations on Canadian-registered aircraft provided the repair station follows Canadian regulations and is specifically authorized by the FAA with a Canadian supplement to its repair station manual. This session reviews the repair station manual supplement, which is required before working on Canadian-registered aircraft, as well as the basic Canadian avionics maintenance regulations and the Canadian avionics modification regulations.

XM WX Satellite Weather
Hosted by Heads Up Technologies at XM Washington D.C. Headquarters (shuttle service provided)
Participants will enhance their knowledge of the XM WX satellite weather system, including weather data sources, integration options and transmission disciplines. Successful integration of this product into the cockpit requires the following parties working together: weather provider, WxWorx, a division of Baron Services; satellite network company, XM Satellite Radio; certified hardware manufacturer, Heads Up Technologies; and cockpit display manufacturers, various EFB and/or MFD providers. In addition to the discussion, a unique tour of XM’s programming and operational facilities will be provided. XM Satellite Radio consists of a state-of-the art broadcast center in Washington, D.C., which covers 150,000 square feet and includes 80 studios, four Boeing satellites, and approximately 800 terrestrial repeaters throughout the continental United States. XM broadcasts digitized programming, both original and acquired, to the satellites positioned over the East Coast and West Coast in geostationary orbits.

Works and Plays Well With the Other Children: Subcontracting, Partnering & Using Employees Under the Federal Aviation Regulations
Jason Dickstein, Washington Aviation Group
Are all of your business relationships structured to comply with the increasingly complex FAA rules governing your relationships? This workshop helps you assess whether or not your own relationships have been structured to comply with the FAA regulations. It also offers tips for ensuring compliance with other laws, as well as tips for how to maximize the advantages of contract relationships. This class analyzes some of the advantages of subcontracting. As with all of Jason Dickstein’s classes, this one offers a healthy dose of common-sense advice about a system of regulations that frequently do not make sense to most business people.

Competing in an International Maintenance Marketplace - Europe
Franz Redak, AEA Europe Consultant
The growth of international maintenance agreements have allowed aircraft of all sizes and shapes to cross borders while shopping for maintenance organizations to install and service avionics and avionics systems. The one caveat in all cases is, the maintenance organization performing the work must perform the work to the standards of the aircraft’s state of registry. For European aircraft, a U.S. repair station is allowed to perform maintenance, repair and alterations on European-registered aircraft provided the repair station holds an EASA 145 certificate and is specifically authorized by the FAA with an EASA supplement to its repair station manual. This session reviews the repair station manual supplement, which is required before working on European-registered aircraft, as well as the basic EASA maintenance regulations and the EASA regulations applicable to aircraft changes.
